Interfacing FANUC robots (v8 to v9) into Ignition has been a real challenge. It surprises me that there is not much more information on this available. I found that even the relevant companies selling with products that address it had trouble helping.
Is so little updated information available because so few people are actually directly connecting their FANUC robots as part of their SCADA architecture?
If it was, would more people be using it and therefore would be better supported and improved on? Or, are there pockets of industry that do tap into this powerful tool but have no reason to broadcast how they do it?
I am in the process of writing up where we ended up and how we got there and will link that in as soon as I can.
The following links were breadcrumbs along the way. BEWARE of dated material!!! I found much of the information posted by those who did it was, as so often happens in tech, dated. We spent many hours following step-by-step instructions that just plan did not work on our versions of software.
