Dennis E. Taylor’s Bobiverse Series is truly amazing! Each book is deeply thought provoking, yet it is full of fun and intelligent humor. Heaven’s River does a good job of introducing the idea that a ‘nanny’ AI that meets ones every need could have the unintended consequence of causing a species to de-evolve as the challenges that prompt growth are removed. Quite a cautionary tale in that sense.
